Made in England to British Made

Made in England to British Made

Once upon a time yes because it is history now made in England was famous for its quality, people used to trust and buy due to its quality. My dad (late) used to be British Punjab police officer. He used to tell us long stories about British government in India and British officers. He always used to admire peaceful times during British government.

During fifties and sixties many Pakistanis and Indians started moving to England for work. Most of them got jobs in Uk’s famous textile industry. Many Indians have come to Pakistan and got Pakistani passport by paying bribes to police, passport officials then moved to uk. It used to be tough times in the uk due to heavy losses in wars. They worked very hard day and night to help rebuild the country and its economy.
England due to land of opportunities for all helped them to be self employed as corner shops restaurants and small factories owners. Many people opened small textile factories
Which are mostly based in Huddersfield, Manchester, Birmingham Nottingham Leicester
and Coventry. After a while most chain stores started placing orders with theses small factories due to cheap prices. They started putting label “British made”. Most of them being uneducated and lack of quality knowledge they put most of their efforts in production rather than quality.
Once one of my friends invited me to his factory while I was leaving he gave me few jumpers. I gave one of them to my friend and told him is very good quality. I think It was large size jumper. Next day he told me it is bit bigger may I have medium. I told him o.K. and gave him medium size. Next day he came to me and told me that this medium size is even bigger than large. He asked me how come these good stores never look at there quality. Anyway I opened the rest of the jumpers and could you believe it that most of the
Jumpers had many quality faults.
Other thing I noticed that they got orders from big chain stores and kept on producing with their labels even end of the order.
After collapse of communist Russia these small factories had boom period from European countries i.e France East Germany Spain etc. They managed to export their British made stuff in big quantities for years. After few years they realized about the quality of British made Products.
Now if you go to most Muslim countries majority of items being sold in the markets are stamped Made in Germany, Made in Italy and Made in England but are Chinese made.
Most Importers and businesses are trying to sell their imported rubbish from china as European made.
Few years ago I was visiting Pakistan I asked someone to bring Gold Leaf cigarettes from the company agents. He came back and asked me they said do you want number 1 or number 2. I have asked what do you mean by 1 and 2 ? He said number 1 is original and 2 is counterfeit. Both are supplied by company dealers. I told him bring one of each.
When he brought two packs it was hard to distinguish which is fake and real.
It is not ended on cigarettes only but also other products even medicines and food products due to corrupt systems in Muslim countries.
