Varna Bulgaria

I was trying to find Bulgarian money and went to one of the travel agents exchange shop in chorlton Manchester. They said they don’t have in stock at the moment but they could arrange it after few days. He asked me when you are traveling. I have told him tomorrow then he said to me be careful in varna exchange places. Anyway I have stayed about three weeks in Bulgaria and have found it very peaceful and safe at night. I have told to everyone I met about that exchange man’s statement about Bulgaria. I left my laptop and camera at home due this as precaution. After arriving first time after few days I was feeling like at home. I came back home after my enjoyable trip to Bulgaria.
Few months later I have decided to go with my family. It has happened to me one Sunday morning in Varna’s main street near MacDonald’s. I came out to attend one meeting that morning. As soon as I have approached to MacDonald’s one man who was sitting on the bench asked me if I need to change money. I have told him Iam ok. Then he asked me are you Indian? I said to him no iam Pakistani. Then he said could you give me change for 100 levas which was about 50 euros. I counted 100 levas and handed to him. He gave me 100 levas bill and as soon as I took it I felt that this not real. I told him it is not good. Three four other men from his gang turn up and started telling me it is good. During this process that person disappeared. Then I have asked the news agent where is police station. He replied to me no police here. Could you believe it I had only 6 levas left in wallet and my mobile telephone had small credit. I have managed to get some money through my natwest solo card.
It is still happening and happening since long time not only in Bulgaria but most East European countries. Due to corruption in these countries nobody has tried to stop it.
If you are visiting any East European countries please exchange your money at banks which are safe and gives better rates.

This has happened to me few years ago. I inquired about flights and ticket to Pakistan.
I counted exactly required money and went to pay this travel agent to get my ticket. After
Arriving at their office I have given information to the person on the counter. Then he asked me to pay him such amount as we have agreed over the phone. After counting he said 10 pounds are short. I asked him what you mean. He repeated again and said it is not exact money. I said I counted it few times before coming to your shop. Then he said Iam not lying if you want to check most welcome. I was astonished to know what happened to my 10 pounds. Anyway I didn’t bother to argue about it and paid him another 10 pounds. My God will punish him if he was lying.
Be careful if you are dealing with them
